How ePPEcentre Speeds Up PPE Inspections

February 6 2026

Regular inspection of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is a legal requirement and contributes to user safety. While it may start out as a time-consuming marathon, it can be optimized. Petzl is more than a PPE manufacturer: we also use cutting-edge technologies to speed up the inspection process. Since its launch in 2024, ePPEcentre has dramatically simplified PPE management, helping you save time.

In this video, we follow the team at the Petzl Technical Institute (PTI) in Germany during the annual inspection of more than 1,500 products. See a real-world example of how ePPEcentre facilitates large-scale inspections.

Efficiency in Practice: 1,500 Inspected Products

Theory is one thing; the reality of managing a large equipment fleet is another. During an annual inspection, where each product must be carefully checked for condition and functionality, every minute counts. By using ePPEcentre, a team of four to five people can save up to a full working day.

Managing large volumes of equipment: each year,

the German PTI performs detailed inspections of the condition and function of over 1,500 products.

What Makes ePPEcentre So Efficient?

We designed the app to speed up the often tedious documentation process and reduce sources of error.

• Ultra-fast product entry: Petzl products can be registered in just two clicks. Photos, technical data, and documentation are automatically uploaded.

• Bulk entry: Thanks to batch scanning of Data Matrix codes or NFC chips, up to 100 products can be added at once in a single operation.

• Overview: From the dashboard, you can monitor the status of your entire equipment fleet on both desktop and smartphone. Using the list view, products can be located via their tags.

• Brand-independent: Manage equipment from all manufacturers centrally, as well as non-PPE items such as rope bags or headlamps.

• Field-ready export: Create product kits and directly export inspection reports to have documentation immediately available during on-site or jobsite checks.

• Structured inspections: The application provides a clear framework while allowing space for individual comments and photos of abnormalities to document equipment taken out of service (for example).

Ultra-fast technology: the batch scanning function allows up to 100 products to be added simultaneously.

Packages for Every Business

Whether for rope access rescue operations, climbing gym facility management, or equipment tracking for large industrial sites, ePPEcentre adapts and evolves with your needs. The application offers three package options that are flexible and can be modified at any time:

• The STARTER plan for independent professionals, ideal for up to 250 products.

• The PROFESSIONAL plan for small and medium-sized enterprises (SME), offering an unlimited number of products.

• The ENTERPRISE plan for large organizations, optimized for managing multiple sites and equipment fleets.

Information at your fingertips: the dashboard allows centralized management of the status of all products.

ePPEcentre by Petzl: “It has changed my life as an inspector.”

ePPEcentre is updated quarterly with new features, developed directly from user needs. This feedback shows the app is doing what it’s meant to do: saving time so teams can focus on their work.
