As part of a new 2023 series highlighting the Petzl Technical Partner Program, we’re featuring a different Partner each month. The PTP Program aims to develop a diverse network of training company partners and recognized leaders that can help Petzl promote our products and solutions to a wide variety of industries and end-users. Our PTPs are recognized experts, companies, or individuals in vertical environments that demonstrate a thorough understanding of their respective industry, contribute to the development of best practices, and meaningfully integrate Petzl into their systems and curriculum.

Nouvelle Hauteur, based out of Montreal and inducted as a PTP in 2016, is a team of professional consultants specializing in training in fall protection, rescue, rope access and confined spaces. Petzl recently spoke with Thomas Chapman, Marketing Director and Marco Simard, President, about their company and partnership with Petzl. What is Nouvelle Hauteur’s mission statement?
To be the North American leader in working and rescue at heights and in confined spaces; and to advance the mission of workplace safety without compromising efficiency.

Briefly describe Nouvelle Hauteur’s history.
Nouvelle Hauteur is a professional training and consulting firm specializing in fall protection, rescue, rope access, rigging and confined spaces. For more than 20 years, our professional instructors have provided training tailored to the specific requirements of our clients, and the unique conditions and hazards their workers face each day. We work with some of the largest and most productive organizations in North America. Serving industries including, but not limited to, telecommunications, renewable energy, entertainment, environment, manufacturing, rail and government. While we have humble roots, starting in a Québec garage back in 2003, we are one of the fastest growing companies in our field. We have the largest training center of its kind in Canada, which has been designed to simulate the environments that workers will encounter on the job. Towers, lighting bridges, a confined space simulator and industrial structures allow workers to practice in a controlled environment with professional instructors on standby.

How is Nouvelle Hauteur a leader for those you serve?
We’ve developed a culture of excellence, while at the same time valuing our employees and the unique contributions they bring. Our clients recognize it the moment they walk through our doors, and we work diligently to ensure that we not only meet, but exceed their expectations. We aim to be the experts our clients depend on by fostering an environment of continual improvement and investing in our people. We are confident that those at every level of our organization have the competencies necessary to deliver.

What does success look like to Nouvelle Hauteur?
We want to be a recognizable name and brand to anyone working at height, confined spaces and the industrial safety industry. The name Petzl is instantly recognizable due not only to their accomplishments, but also because of the people who have used their products to achieve amazing things. We hope to have a similar impact on those organizations and industries we serve. Consistently delivering quality and excellence will aid our clients in achieving their work safely and efficiently. Our success can be measured in the great accomplishments of the organizations and individuals with whom we’ve had the privilege of working.

What is your favorite part about being a Petzl Technical Partner?
Participating in the Petzl Rescue Symposium. It has enabled us to engage with some of the most knowledgeable and influential people in our industry, and to share our ideas and best practices, as well as to learn from them. It was a privilege to work with the experts at Petzl and to learn new maneuvers, as well as new techniques for doing maneuvers we already knew well.

What is your favorite Petzl product? Why?
Our favorite Petzl product would have to be the JAG RESCUE KIT. We’ve worked with many other similar mechanical advantage systems, but we feel strongly that the JAG is the best. We have incorporated it into many different rescue techniques and numerous applications for various industries. It’s our go-to product for rescue systems and we think it should be in nearly anyone’s tool kit who works in rope access, or other high-angle work where the potential need for rescue is present.
