Peter Rott, Satellite Communications Technician at EMC
Peter Rott: A Technician with Razor-Sharp Precision
Peter Rott ensures the smooth operation of satellite links connecting countries across the globe. As a satellite communications technician at EMC (Emerging Markets Communications, a subsidiary of the international company ANUVU), he monitors and maintains the vast antenna networks responsible for transmitting data and signals worldwide. With over thirty years of experience in antenna technology, transmission and reception technology, as well as antenna tracking, he makes a significant contribution to the reliability of communication channels.
Beyond the pure technical aspects, Peter's job also demands sharp focus, meticulous planning, and unwavering reliability — qualities he demonstrates every day in his work.

A Daily Grind Balancing High-Tech and Heavy Responsibility
Peter's day starts early; maintenance work or tests need to be carried out regularly on the antennas, even in adverse weather conditions. Working at height and handling highly complex systems requires not only technical expertise but also the use and proper handling of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Thanks to Petzl solutions like the VOLT harness, VERTEX helmet, ABSORBICA lanyard, and PIXA headlamp – Peter is perfectly equipped to maintain even the most intricate antenna systems.

The use of PPE is essential for maintenance work on the reflectors of the antenna networks.
The Raisting Earth Station in Germany: A Linchpin of Communication
The Raisting Earth Station stands as a symbol of modern technology and engineering. Its importance is a matter of historical record. Its enormous parabolic antennas and technical installations transmit and receive signals, connecting mobile receivers such as aircraft or ships to data traffic and the internet. Its iconic antennas, rising majestically towards the sky, symbolize the dawn of satellite communication. Built in 1964 by Deutsche Bundespost (the German Federal Post Office), the station revolutionized transcontinental telecommunications in the 1960s with live, long-distance television broadcasting. The live broadcast of the 1969 moon landing marked a real turning point, as television signals were received in Raisting and distributed across Europe from there.

Petzl ePPEcentre and Petzl Technical Institute: Safety in Focus
The safety of professionals like Peter is at the heart of Petzl's innovations.
With Petzl's ePPEcentre app, the management and inspection of personal protective equipment (PPE) is simpler and more efficient. This app offers a practical solution that keeps important data within reach, such as lifespan, inspection deadlines, and manufacturer instructions.
Petzl Solutions departments are an important part of our distribution sites worldwide. These serve as central hubs for technical questions and inquiries regarding Petzl products. Many sites also incorporate the Petzl Technical Institute (PTI), which offers a wide range of training courses on fall protection, rope access techniques, and PPE inspection. These courses help prepare professionals for the challenges of their daily work and receive practical training based on real-world work scenarios. Peter Rott attends expert training courses on fall protection PPE and refresher courses at the Petzl Technical Institute in Obersöchering, Germany.

As an expert, Peter is responsible for the regular inspection of PPE.
