VERTEX: A Symbol of 10 Years of Partnership Between Jan De Nul and Petzl

Since early 2026, VERTEX helmets customized in Jan De Nul colors have been used by their teams on job sites, aboard vessels, and in warehouses and workshops around the world. These helmets symbolize a relationship that has been built over the past ten years between Jan De Nul and Petzl. We sat down with Milo Cousserier, senior QHSSE Advisor Quality, Health, Safety, Security, Environment at Jan De Nul, who shared his thoughts on the partnership.

Safety First

From offshore wind farms in the North Sea to port infrastructure projects in Africa, as well as construction sites and dredging operations, Jan De Nul teams work in a wide range of environments. For the international group, one principle remains constant: maintaining the same high safety standards for every employee.

- "Every day, our challenge is to create conditions that make it possible for everyone to get home safely, whether they're working on an offshore wind farm, a construction site, or a maritime project," says Milo Cousserier.

Petzl and Jan De Nul: Two Companies, One Shared Commitment

Founded in 1938, Jan De Nul is now one of the world's leading companies in maritime works, dredging, and infrastructure. Like Petzl, it is a family-owned business that has grown while preserving a strong field-oriented culture and a steadfast commitment to the quality of its work. These shared values enable us to meet the expectations Jan De Nul has of a supplier like Petzl:

- "We expect our personal protective equipment (PPE) suppliers to deliver high-quality products efficiently and on schedule. We want our partners to operate to the same high standards that we set for ourselves internally."

One Helmet for Thousands of Employees

Since 2016, Jan De Nul has been using several Petzl products, including harnesses, lanyards, and helmets. In 2025, the company launched a project to standardize helmet selection across the entire group. Following the bidding process, the VERTEX VENT helmet with the VIZIR visor was selected in a customized Jan De Nul version. For the company, choosing the VERTEX was first and foremost about meeting the practical needs of the field.

- "Our offshore teams were already using the VERTEX helmet, and their feedback was very positive. During our evaluations, it stood out for its comfort and ease of adjustment. The helmet's versatility also played a key role in the decision. The VERTEX can be used across our different divisions: Offshore Energy, Dredging Solutions, Construction Projects, and Planet Redevelopment*. This versatility is a real advantage for us. One of our key procurement priorities is providing the same level of safety to all of our teams." Another point highlighted by Jan De Nul was the helmet's ten-year service life. "It lasts twice as long as some of the equipment we used previously."

The ability to adapt the helmet with a wide range of compatible accessories, including visors, neck protectors, badge holders, and headlamps, also meets the diverse needs encountered by Jan De Nul teams in the field.

A Partnership That Goes Beyond the Product

While the VERTEX helmet is at the heart of our partnership this year, Jan De Nul also highlights the strong working relationship that has developed over the years with the Petzl Benelux team and its distribution network:

- "We particularly value the quality of the relationship we have with our distributor."

Today, thousands of VERTEX helmets support Jan De Nul employees around the world. With a discreet yet essential presence, they contribute to a goal shared by Petzl and Jan De Nul: helping everyone work while minimizing risk as much as possible.
