Need a Red Light For Your Ultra? Petzl's Got You Covered!

For summer 2026, the rules for some ultra-trail races may change: a red front light may now be required on certain sections of the course. To help you avoid needing to change your gear shortly before the race, we've developed a solution specifically designed to meet this new requirement with our flagship ultra-trail headlamps. And we're giving it to you for free! So you can line up at the start with one less thing to worry about and focus entirely on your race.

The Petzl Red Light Filter Is Just 5 Grams

To help you keep using your Petzl headlamp, we've developed a red filter that clips directly onto your headlamp, providing the required red light without compromising performance or costing you precious time. Simply take it out when you reach the section of the course where it’s required... then keep your eyes on the finish line!

Is your headlamp compatible?

We've developed red filters for the latest generations of Petzl ultra-trail headlamps:

  • NAO RL : ref E105AA00 (sold from 2022)

  • SWIFT RL : ref E095BC00, 01, 02 et E095BD00 (sold from 2026)

At this time, no solution is available for other headlamp ranges or older models.

Your white-light performance remains unchanged. Once the red filter is clipped onto the front of your headlamp, it will emit red light only, with the performance shown below:

NAO RL :

MAX: 60 lumens, up to 36 m beam distance
MEDIUM: 43 lumens, up to 28 m beam distance
MIN: 19 lumens, up to 19 m beam distance
MAX: 60 lumens, up to 36 m beam distance
