Two days of intense competition to celebrate ten years of GrimpDay!

On May 29-30, 2015, the Belgian city of Namur once again hosted GrimpDay. This international challenge, bringing together search and rescue teams from around the world, celebrated its tenth anniversary! For the occasion, the competition lasted two days. Twenty-nine teams from around the world competed face-to-face through several events, putting their hazardous environment rescue skills to the test.

In 2006, two firefighters in Namur decided to create an event dedicated to rescues in hazardous environments. They turned to Petzl for assistance. Ten years later, GrimpDay has become a must-attend competition that brings together search and rescue teams from every continent! 
 

A two-day challenge!

For the first time and to celebrate the tenth anniversary, GrimpDay lasted two days; a great way for the organization to thank the 210 participants from thirteen different countries, and their companions. The 2015 edition included teams from China, Taiwan, Russia, and even Canada!

A new playing field!

Participants competed against each other in all-new events. Between rescuing horses in water, performing pick-offs of accident victims on a slackline, evacuating an injured persons on a via ferrata, and then back to Namur's spectacular citadel, the twenty-nine teams were able to showcase their expertise. Proof positive that GrimpDay is rising in popularity, people from Australia, the United States, and Finland attended this year's event.

Standing on the podium…

For the first time ever, a French team, Grimp 54, stood on the podium's highest step. A team from Brussels (Belgium) finished second, and in third place stood the Team Czech Republic.

All of these ingredients made for a wildly successful GrimpDay 2015. Great weather, fantastic event sites, an experienced and skilled organizing team, and highly-motivated search and rescue teams once again generated an incredible atmosphere.
