How do I mark a product?

You want to add your name, your company’s name, an additional unique identifier: here are some solutions, depending on the product.

General precautions

Additional markings must not cover the original product markings (e.g .serial number, certification, warning on the product). Do not damage or impair product functionality by adding a marking. If you use your own unique ID (code/color), you must first record the associated Petzl serial number in your PPE register.

For a helmet

Use only the smooth areas for stickers and other markings. Do not apply paint, solvents, adhesives or stickers, except for water-based adhesives or A10100 Petzl stickers.

For a harness

Markings are approved only on the labels and comfort elements (e.g. foam or fabric patch ) and not on safety elements such as straps, metal D rings, attachment points or fastening buckles.

The chemicals in markers, paints, adhesive tapes, and stickers may be incompatible with textile materials.

A blank space is available on the labels of certain harnesses.

You may also use cable ties to attach labels. Be sure to avoid interfering with product functionality.

For a carabiner or metal product

You may use only an electric or laser engraving pen (depth less than 0.1 mm) on a non-functional area of the frame:

Do not use a stamp or punch. The use of stamps or punches is strictly prohibited, as this type of marking may affect product performance, depending on the depth, force of impact, and selected area.

You can also mark your metal equipment with a small amount of paint (paint pen or metal-writing paint) on a non-functional area, e.g. major axis of a carabiner.
