In 2015, Petzl Team member, Anne Gilbert Chase traveled to the Garhwal division of the Himalayas in northern India with Caro North and Jason Thompson to climb Mount Nilkantha (21,640-ft). After three days of climbing on the west ridge, they bailed in an electrical storm 1,000 feet from the summit.

Returning back in 2017, Anne Gilbert Chase, Chantel Astorga, and Jason Thompson established a new route on the southwest face on Mount Nilkantha. They spent five days climbing the 4,593-foot mixed route, naming it “Obscured Perception.”

During the 2018 Piolets d’Or celebration, Anne Gilbert Chase and her team received an honorable mention for their ascent: “This ascent is representative of the increasing rise in the levels of female alpinism. We hope that their ascents will continue to inspire and encourage women alpinists, as they inspire us all."
