The LADDER CLIMB attachment point on the 2020 and pre-2020 VOLT harnesses was designed for use in vertical progression along a rail or cable. - The LADDER CLIMB attachment point allows for ventral attachment of the fall arrest trolley: it distributes the load on the waistbelt and ensures optimal comfort during progression, when climbing up as well as down.

In case of a fall, the stitching tears on the LADDER CLIMB attachment point webbing, and the point moves up to a sternal position. This helps give the user a vertical post-fall body position.

Use with ABSORBICA-I or Y lanyards or ASAP mobile fall arrester.

The LADDER CLIMB attachment point on the 2020 and pre-2020 VOLT harnesses is certified EN 361: 2002. So it can be used to attach a fall-arrest lanyard. However, it is important to take into account the elongation of this point (due to tearing) for the clearance calculation.

- 2020 VOLT = 55 cm

- Pre-2020 VOLT = 50 cm

To limit the fall distance, Petzl recommends using the sternal point to attach fall-arrest lanyards or a mobile fall arrester.

Other uses

On the 2020 VOLT, the stitching on the LADDER CLIMB attachment point webbing is designed to tear in case of a fall and to allow other uses, such as occasional suspension (attachment point certified EN 813: 2008) and work positioning (attachment point certified EN 358: 2018).

On the pre-2020 VOLT, the stitching on the LADDER CLIMB attachment point webbing is designed to tear in case of a fall. So this point is not designed for uses such as suspension and positioning. There is a risk of inadvertently tearing the stitching of the LADDER CLIMB attachment point webbing.

For positioning, use the side attachment points on the harness or the seat attachment points.
