Releasable anchors with the I'D

Setting up a rope on a releasable anchor allows a worker to be lowered in case of an accident, with no need for the rescuer to access the victim. Another advantage: a single person on foot can monitor multiple workers at height.

  • Carefully read the Instructions for Use used in this technical advice before consulting the advice itself. You must have already read and understood the information in the Instructions for Use to be able to understand this supplementary information.
  • Mastering these techniques requires specific training. Work with a professional to confirm your ability to perform these techniques safely and independently before attempting them unsupervised.
  • We provide examples of techniques related to your activity. There may be others that we do not describe here.

The I'D is especially suitable for making a releasable anchor:

One simply puts the handle in the "work positioning" position and completes the setup by tying-off the device.

If an emergency evacuation is needed, the tie-off is quickly undone and the descent is controlled following the standard recommendations in the Instructions for Use.

The I'D can be used for a releasable anchor on the work rope as well as for the safety rope.

The reserve rope should be of sufficient length depending on the situation and protected in an appropriate bag during work. Tie a knot at the end of the rope (at the bottom of the bag).

The I'D can be used for a releasable anchor on the work rope as well as for the safety rope.

Warning: if the I'D is anchored from above, remember to redirect the rope through a braking carabiner to control the descent.
