Certification tests of the ABSORBICA I and Y lanyards

The ABSORBICA I and Y lanyards are certified to a European standard and a North American standard whose requirements are not exactly the same.

EN 355 standard fall test

Fall length: 4 m

Test mass: 100 kg

Maximum allowable impact force: 6 kN

Maximum tearing of energy absorber: 175 cm

EN 355 standard fall test

ANSI Z359-13 12ft standard fall test

Fall length: 12 feet (3.66 m)

Test mass: 128 kg

Maximum allowable impact force: 8 kN

Average allowable impact force: 6 kN

Maximum tearing of energy absorber: 152 cm

ANSI Z359-13 12ft standard fall test

The ABSORBICA I and Y lanyards are calibrated to pass the tests of the two standards above.

In a fall of an equal or less mass, over an equal or less distance, the user will be arrested by the energy absorber without exceeding the maximum allowable impact force.

Notes.

Note: even if the energy absorption capacity allows a 4 m fall to be arrested with an "acceptable" impact force of less than 6 kN, such a fall is not harmless. At all times, it is recommended to reduce the fall distance as much as possible.
