The LADDER CLIMB attachment point on the VOLT harness was designed for use in vertical progression with a rail or cable-based fall protection system. - The LADDER CLIMB attachment point allows for ventral attachment of the fall-arrest trolley: it distributes the load on the waist belt and ensures optimal comfort during progression, when climbing up as well as down.

In case of a fall, the stitching on the LADDER CLIMB attachment point strap tears, and the point moves up to a sternal position. This helps give the user a vertical post-fall body position. The stitching in the webbing of this point is calibrated to begin tearing at 3 kN.

Usage with ABSORBICA-I or Y lanyards or ASAP mobile fall arrester.

The LADDER CLIMB attachment point on the VOLT harness is certified EN 361: 2002. So it can be used to attach a fall-arrest lanyard. However, it is important to take into account the elongation of this point (due to tearing) for the clearance calculation. Note that the elongation value depends on harness size:

- size 0: 70 cm

- size 1: 75 cm

- size 2: 85 cm

To limit the fall distance, Petzl recommends using the sternal point to attach fall arrest lanyards or a mobile fall arrester.

Other uses

The stitching in the webbing of the LADDER CLIMB attachment point strap is calibrated to begin tearing at 3 kN. So this point is not designed for uses such as suspension and positioning. There would be risk of accidental tearing of the stitching in the webbing of the ventral point.

For positioning, use the side attachment points on the harness or the seat attachment points.

For positioning, use the side attachment points 1/2
For positioning, use the side attachment points 2/2
