Os by Petzl: What does the distance given in the table for MAXIMUM and ECONOMIC mean?

The distance indicates the lighting distance measured according to the Petzl protocol. This is the distance at which the lamp produces light equal to or greater than 0.25 lux.

Petzl estimates this lighting level to be equivalent to the light emitted from a full moon on a clear night. This minimum lighting level is used as a reference for measuring lighting distance and duration.

Battery life is defined as the length of time that a headlamp illuminates at 0.25 lux or more at a distance of two meters (in the axis). When the light produced by the headlamp is below this level, we consider that it is no longer usable, whether for walking, reading, or any other activity.

All lighting distance and battery life information is given for information only, for a CORE battery charged to 100%*.

*Note: do not hesitate to recharge a battery that is partially discharged or that has been in storage for more than two weeks. A Li-Ion rechargeable battery loses 10 % of its capacity per year. It can be recharged 300 times. (After 300 times, it still has 70 % of its original capacity.)
