Team Petzl retraces the steps of the first explorers (Joe Berger, Fernand Petzl, Jean Lavigne, Georges Garby, Pierre Chevalier...). Thanks to extraordinary images from the film “Siphon-1122” (directed by Georges Marry in 1962 and produced by Jack Lesage) relive the intensity of the first descent in this now well-known, must see cave.

Back in Canada for the winter with nowhere to sport climb or boulder in sight, Petzl athlete Kevin Wilkinson decided on a whim to try his hand at mixed climbing when some friends invited him to go along.

Adieu, Guy

We just learned yesterday that Guy Lacelle was killed in an avalanche during the Bozeman Ice Festival.  This tragic news strikes at the heart of the Petzl family, adding to a overwhelmingly sad 2009. Guy has long been a close friend to all of us at Petzl, both in North America and Europe.

The temps on the resort island of Mallorca are starting to cool down and climbers are getting their deep water solo on. A strong team has just arrived, including Petzl athlete Emily Harrington. Petzl-athlete Kevin Wilkinson has been calling Ten Sleep, Wyoming home for the last couple of years. Both he and his girlfriend Alli Rainey (also a Petzl athlete) have been prolific route developers, bolting many of the hard, pocket-riddled limestone sport routes in the canyon.

The Petzl Roctrip started on Thursday, June 25 in conjuntion with the Natural Games in Millau,France. Athletes from the worlds of climbing, paragliding, mountain biking and kayaking came together to have fun at this huge event.
