Petzl America is looking for a Sales Director responsible for the coordination, management, and leadership of sales activities. In partnership with our division managers, the Sales Director identifies and analyzes sales opportunities and market needs, and develops strategies to maximize growth. Handling complexity with seasoned judgment and professional maturity is a must, as is a dynamic and collaborative management style.
 

Skills and Requirement

Develop and execute strategic/sales and tactical/business plans that translate into measurable growth

  • Demonstrable professional or recreational experience with rope access activities (for example: climbing, rescue, working at height)
  • Keen grasp of product distribution via a variety of channels
  • Passionate about providing unmatched customer service
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills to manage employees and independent reps
  • Unwavering dedication for “doing the right thing” when faced with challenges
  • Analytical skills that remain razor sharp under competing pressures
  • Superior organizational and time-management skills
  • Technologically savvy, and fluent in Microsoft Office Suite, Cognos, CRM and ERP systems 
  • Formidable negotiating skills and capacity
  • Impeccable written and verbal communication skills, with equally strong listening skills 
  • Experience in retail sales, sales representation, and sales management
  • History of selling to industrial channels and military/governmental agencies is preferred
  • Possess strong knowledge of market and industry trends, competitors, and leading customer strategies for our three core markets (sport, pro, and headlamps)
  • Mastery of the full cycle of sales and distribution operations
  • Proven sales forecasting and performance analysis, pricing, budgeting, coordinating marketing efforts, and managing supply and demand conditions

Experience
  • A minimum of five years as Sales Manager
  • 5-10 years overall in a sales-oriented business environment (ideally international)
  • B.S. in Business or related, MBA preferred

The position is full-time salaried and reports to the President. The position qualifies for full benefits including: health, dental and disability insurance; a generous paid time off program; holiday pay; a profit sharing plan; 401(k) benefits; and a progressive workplace geared toward employee well-being and satisfaction.  This job is based at our main office in Clearfield, Utah, approximately 30 miles north of Salt Lake City.  Salary is commensurate with experience. Regular sales-related event travel required, including international.
