The 64th congress of the International Commission for Mountain Rescue took place in Krynica, Poland, October 2-7, 2012. For the event, more than 400 mountain rescue professionals from around the world gathered to discuss and share techniques, knowledge, and equipment for improving the effectiveness of mountain rescue.

 
Lectures and technical workshops to enrich the profession

Petzl RopeTrip’s first edition took place from October 5-7, 2012, at V.axess, Petzl’s official training center in Crolles, France. The goal of this challenge was to bring together rope access workers from around the world for a festival and the opportunity to share best practices and knowledge with peers.

Team Petzl member Nina Caprez recently achieved one of her lifelong goals by sending Silbergeier in Rätikon, Switzerland. The extremely difficult and run-out multi-pitch route required lots of dedication and drive. Here, Nina discusses the details of her project.

Damian Benegas, the famous Argentinian alpinist, has climbed some of the biggest mountains all over the world: in the Himalayas, South America, and Africa. Along with this twin brother, Willie, they have done numerous technical first ascents. Perhaps less well known is the fact that he was the first to summit the iconic 200-meter high Piedra Parada nearly twenty years ago via the route 'Sueno Lento", with his partner Pablo de la Fuente.

Over the weekend of January 12-13, 2013, the promotion team and Petzl Team climbers took off to take part in multiple ice climbing events across the planet. Of note were Ice Climbing Ecrins in the Hautes-Alpes region of France, the Ouray Ice Festival and its Elite Mixed Comp in Colorado, the Ice Climbing World Cup in South Korea, and the Youth World Championships in Saas Grund, Swizterland.
