This cliff has a special significance for Chris, as it was here, more than ten years ago that he did the first ascent of the inspiring line, Biographie (5.15a). This time, at the Face de Rat, away from the summer crowds, Chris found a new line to bolt.

Hueco Rock Rodeo 2013 Round Up
2013 marked the 20th year of the Hueco Rock Rodeo in Hueco Tanks, Texas, making this one of America's longest-running outdoor climbing competitions, according to event organizer Melissa Strong.

Organized by Rick Wilcox's International Mountain Equipment and the International Mountain Climbing School, the event is the highlight of the year for many ice lovers.

The Smugglers Notch Ice Bash was started seven years ago as a small gathering of climbers in Jeffersonville, Vermont, just north of the beautiful Smuggler’s Notch State Park. From its small grassroots start, the event has quickly grown into one of the biggest and most well-attended ice fests on the East Coast.
Ouray Ice Fest 2013 Wrap Up
It was well below freezing in the Ouray Ice Park, but in the half-warmth of the winter sun, a gloveless Jeff Mercier climbed through a section of overhanging artificial wall festooned with old-school mountaineering ice axes and dense foam blocks. He alternated between whacking the picks of his ERGO ice tools into the foam, and gently hooking and mono-pointing into the spike holes of the dangling ice axes.

The Adirondacks in the winter time are a special place, with amber ice flows mixing between the granite outcrops and cedar trees. Now in its 17th year, the Adirondack Mountainfest routinely draws huge crowds to New York's Keene Valley to try the latest in ice climbing gear and watch presentations from guest climbers. The Mountainfest, hosted by the famous local gear shop The Mountaineer, has drawn legendary climbers from around the world -- luminaries like Jeff Lowe, Alex Lowe, Steve House and Will Gadd.
