Walking to the rocks at Petzl RocTrip Argentina

I just arrived in the States after a three week stint in South America. There were two plans laid out for this trip, the first being the 10th annual Petzl RocTrip.

I was fortunate enough to have been part of developing the Piedra Parada for the event back in March. I joined a small group from Petzl and others from Argentina to discover, bolt and clean new lines in the various rock formations that surround the Piedra. That first trip, even though not my first visit to South America, taught me a lot about myself and the unique opportunity I have to connect with communities around the world.

The RocTrip itself was a massive event. The attendee number reached 1300 people, and probably more from all over the world.  I spent every day cruising around, happily showing friends some of the routes that I was familiar with, participating in the awesome evening festivities and Asados (argentinian BBQ's). The community was strong this year and it was a pleasure to be part of such an event. It was particularly satisfying to see our hard work pay off...so, hats off to Petzl, and thanks to all the other awesome people who made this a reality!
