The test tower
Vincent Thébault, Testing Technician
"To ensure the highest degree of safety, Petzl was the first company in its sector to equip itself with a testing lab in 1986. The test tower is a key piece of equipment; it is designed to - as realistically as possible - reproduce the conditions in which our products will be used.
The performance of products under different loads and stresses, their changes in strength over time, and their potential wear and deformation are all reviewed with regard to international norms and Petzl’s own safety requirements."

Bringing it to the community
Erwan Le Lann, Head of Team Petzl & Events
"My role is to ensure Petzl's presence in the field. This visibility has to exist in both our markets, sport (climbing, mountaineering, caving) and professional (rescue, work, arborism). Whether through our Petzl Team members or through events, our outreach programs are here to stay. Petzl's ambassadors don't have to be the strongest in their field, even if Chris Sharma and Mike Horn are on the Team, but they are the most gifted at communicating their passion, making it evolve and interacting with other participants.
When Petzl decides to participate in a night run or a climbing festival, we want to bring something to the community, whether that means a headlamp repair stand or the development of climbing, like we did in China at the end of 2010."

Updating our tools, a long-term goal
Frédéric Banget, Director of Industrial Operations
"Since its creation in 1973, Petzl has remained a family business that invests in research and development, testing and production. This investment allows us to strengthen and update, and so determines the expertise and long-term relevance of the company. Petzl production consists of three sites in France and one in Malaysia. The latter adheres to the same quality controls and employment codes as our sites in France. We require that our sub-contractors in Europe and Asia respect all our quality standards."
