Using the New Basic for self-belay.

So I went out last weekend to try some toprope self-belay with the new basic. The system I rigged was the following. The Basic was attached to my belay loop with a locking biner through the lower connection hole. I made a chest harness out of two slings, and clipped the upper hole to the slings. This kept the basic just above my belly-button. I had a separate backup system on a second rope. When I ascended, the chest harness dragged the Basic up the rope. When I sat on the Basic, the weight was all on my belay loop; none on the chest harness. Do you have any observations about the risk or possible fail scenarios of this setup? Thanks in advance.
