Expedition Makalu (8463m) West pillar solo - final reportSince one week I am back in Switzerland. My frostbitten feet are getting slowly better and I have started again with my climbing work out. Every day life is getting back, slowly. Nevertheless: I need this rest badly. The Makalu has challenged me to the very end.
The expedition was a great success, although I did not reach the summit over the primarily planned route over the west pillar. The conditions on the normal route were already very difficult, so that an ascent over the west pillar was simply impossible.
Eiger - Memorable momentsDuring the last couple of weeks, there have been some memorable moments.
At the end of september, perfect weather conditions allowed us to jump from the mushroom a few times, on the North Face of the Eiger.
It was amazing to BASE jump from a mountain with so much climbing history, and the entire experience of being on and around the Eiger for several days was really nice.
You can easily jump the Mushroom by taking the train to Eigergletscher and then hiking up to the west face in less than 2 hours.
