Each year, ISA (International Society of Arboriculture) and ETCCOC (European Tree Climbing Championship Operations Committee) organize the European arborist championships. The 2011 edition will take place from June 17th to 19th in Austria, at the Vienna Prater.

The objective of this competition is to gather together professional arborists who will compete in various events such as:

  • throwing bags

  • ascending with a FOOTLOCK

  • ascending in working conditions

  • ascending as quickly as possible

  • at-height rescuing

Each of these activities will enable them to test their skills in terms of climbing, being dexterous, moving safely in a tree and using different techniques to rescue a colleague in difficulty.

These Championships also represent an opportunity to better explain this job to the European public and promote safety in this specific working environment. Professional arborists will also be able to exchange their practices and discover new technical innovations.

Petzl is partner of this event and will introduce its new range of ALVEO helmets together with other new products. A Test Center will be set up to directly test the equipment.
