The 10MILA race is one of the largest orienteering competitions in Sweden and in the world. As orienteering is a very widespread sport in Sweden, the country holds several competitions during the year, attracting orienteering clubs from all around the world. This year, the 10MILA competition takes place in Kvarn, Östergötland in the inlands of Sweden and Petzl will be there sponsoring the event and launching the new NAO headlamp.
Tough, Technical and Challenging
964 teams have applied for this year's 10MILA with a total of 6,291 runners. The motto of 10MILA 2012 is Tough, Technical and Challenging :
- Tough: this year the courses will be longer than usual.
- Technical: some areas will be very technically demanding, a good orienteering technique is necessary to avoid costly mistakes.
- Challenging: the orienteer’s technique must be balanced throughout the races to manage the whole course.
The competition is made up of youth's, women's and men's relay. The men´s relay starts at 9:30 pm and finish in the morning around 8 am. A good headlamp is crucial for these competitors.
Test of NAO headlamps
During the competition Petzl will be on site in the NAO tent. Competitors and visitors will be able to look at and try the full range of Petzl headlamps. In the Petzl NAO tent, visitors will get all the information they need about the new Petzl NAO Headlamp and the new Reactive Lighting technology.
It will be possible to try and test the new NAO Headlamp during the event for those who wish.
Thierry Gueorgiou from the Petzl Team will be lined up for the last leg looking for another victory with his team Kalevan Rasti.

On the 10MILA website there will be continuous information about what is happening during the competition with the following online services:
10MILA apps for iPhone and Android. With the app you can follow your favorite teams in the same way as in the split time terminals. The app can be downloaded from Android Market or App Store (iTunes) and is free.
Web broadcasting will be accessible on the website. The transmission is free of charge and the same as Radio 10MILA.
