It is also called the province of minorities due to the presence of numerous tribes of different origin that settled here in the past. The North Face® Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc® 2011: 4 seasons in a single race

Gathering a total of 5500 runners for a cocktail of 4 different ultra trail races, The North Face Ultra-Trail du Mont Blanc confirmed it's rank as the world's toughest event of its kind. The weather remained the master in the mountains: for this 9th edition, runners were greeted by the full array of meteorological conditions: intense heat, thunderstorms, drenching showers, high winds, thick fog, sub-zero temperatures, snowy passes and a finish under a clear blue sky.
 

Trace des Ducs de Savoie : Wild trail running through Aoste, Tarentaise and Beaufortain

This year the Trace des Ducs de Savoie (TDS) was the novelty race of The North Face® Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc organization. Although it was already proposed last year the start was not given due to severe weather on the mountains and no one was able to complete the route.  In 2009 the first edition of this race was on another trail.

Technical rescues: Grimpday 2011, a unique event

On June 4, 2011, the sixth edition of GrimpDay took place in Belgium.
Teams from all across Europe gathered at the ancient walls of the Citadelle de Namur to take part in the event.

Petzl RocTrip 2011 : "A Drill Dream Team"

At a completely virgin site like Getu the problem of equipment was present in all its complexity. Before all the necessary gear could be sent, an experienced eye was needed to evaluate the quality and quantity of what might be needed.

Responsibility for the inventory fell to Erwan Le Lann who was supervised by Olivier Balma and assisted by Whan, a park ranger.
