The North Face® Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc® 2011: 4 seasons in a single race

Gathering a total of 5500 runners for a cocktail of 4 different ultra trail races, The North Face Ultra-Trail du Mont Blanc confirmed it's rank as the world's toughest event of its kind. The weather remained the master in the mountains: for this 9th edition, runners were greeted by the full array of meteorological conditions: intense heat, thunderstorms, drenching showers, high winds, thick fog, sub-zero temperatures, snowy passes and a finish under a clear blue sky.

Trace des Ducs de Savoie : Wild trail running through Aoste, Tarentaise and Beaufortain

This year the Trace des Ducs de Savoie (TDS) was the novelty race of The North Face® Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc organization. Although it was already proposed last year the start was not given due to severe weather on the mountains and no one was able to complete the route.  In 2009 the first edition of this race was on another trail.

The 2010 UTMB: an epic edition.

Well, mountains are mountains and they don't always allow you to do what you want to do.
Strong winds, storming, rain, snow and heavy fog wreaked havoc on the "The North Face Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc", which was held August 27 - 29.
