Team member Phil Bence (caver, climbing and canyoning instructor), talks about his recent expedition to Papua New Guinea.

Team Petzl retraces the steps of the first explorers (Joe Berger, Fernand Petzl, Jean Lavigne, Georges Garby, Pierre Chevalier...). Thanks to extraordinary images from the film “Siphon-1122” (directed by Georges Marry in 1962 and produced by Jack Lesage) relive the intensity of the first descent in this now well-known, must see cave.

From August 1-6, 2011, climbers and alpinists from Team Petzl were introduced to caving in the Gouffre Berger cave, which descends to -1100m. Team Petzl member and organizer of the expedition, François Lombard, tells the story.
