Celebrating 20 years of bouldering: TAB back with a vengeance for a wildly successful event!
To celebrate 20 years of pulling down hard, the "Tout À Blocs" (TAB) bouldering contest wanted to make a lasting impression. What better way to celebrate this anniversary edition than to once again organize an international open bouldering competition in Argentière-la-Bessée, France.
From July 24-28, 2013, the Pays des Ecrins area of the Southern French Alps beat to the rhythm of a fantastic climbing festival: bouldering in Ailefroide, a kids contest, and an International Open in the middle of Quartz Square.
UT4M: the first edition of Grenoble’s Ultra Trail
With the current explosion and widespread popularity of trail running at all levels, the first edition of the Ultra Trail des 4 Massifs (UT4M) already looks to be a huge success. More than 900 runners have registered for the upcoming race, far exceeding the 750 initially forecasted. Event organizers focused on creating an original race course. With the start and finish lines in downtown Grenoble, the course passes through the surrounding Vercors, Taillefer, Belledonne and Chartreuse Mountains; 160 km and 10,000 meters vertical gain for this new ultra trail!
The UT4M will take place in Grenoble from August 23-25, 2013.
The Lakeland 100: sightseeing in the Lake District the ultra way
Lake District National Park, the second National Park established in the United Kingdom, located in one of the country’s most mountainous areas, hosted the Lakeland 100 from Friday, July 26, through Sunday, July 28, 2013. The event, which was divided into two ultra trail races, a 105 mile race (160 km) and a 50 mile race (80 km), attracted over 1000 ultra-marathon enthusiasts to run over the hills, through the woods, and of course by the lakes, in an area world-renowned for its incredible beauty.
UTMB®: an imminent start for the world’s toughest trail race
The North Face® Ultra Trail du Mont-Blanc® is just around the corner. The event, which hosts four of the world’s wildest and most extreme trail running races, will take place from August 26 to September 1, 2013. For the 11th time in as many years, runners will circle the Mont-Blanc range and cross through the three countries it lies in: Switzerland, Italy, and France. People experience a real connection with the mountains during such trying races. This feeling will be even more enhanced with the establishment of a dedicated environmental services team to ensure a leave-no-trace approach to the protected natural spaces where the races take place. So venture to the Chamonix Valley to cheer on the best trail runners on the planet.
Another action-packed Natural Games
The Natural Games International Outdoor Sports and Music Festival took place from June 27-30, 2013, in the southern French city of Millau. A major hub for outdoor sports, the city bent over backwards to host a fantastic international event that mixed music and a wide variety of sports such as mountain biking, rock climbing, slacklining, kayaking and paragliding, all in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The world's top athletes participated in the event.
The Petzl South Downs Way 100: a "leisurely" Saturday stroll through the coastal hills of Southern England
The South Downs Way is a National footpath and popular through-hike which runs the length of the South Downs Hills in the Southern England, from Winchester to Eastbourne. On June 15, 2013, the third consecutive South Downs Way 100 took place. A small group of enthusiastic ultra-runners took to the starting line to run the 100 mile (160 kilometer) course with 12,700 feet (3872 meters) of vertical gain. The mix of open grasslands, woodlands, dirt trails, and great weather made for a perfect day to go running.

About 300 climbers from France and several other countries have met in the Gorges du Tarn for a RocTrip. The well renowned climbing area recently benefitted from a global rebolting plan to renew and secure all the climbing anchors.
