Tough Enough - Climbing in Madagascar
Tough Enough, is the name of the 400 meter route in the Tsaranoro Valley in Madagascar first climbed by Arnaud Petit, Stéphanie Bodet, Sylvain Millet and Laurent Triay in 2008. Their only objective was to free the 10 pitches - many rated 8a and harder - on this African bigwall.
Long Routes - Petzl Team extend themselves
The Petzl Roc trips get better and better, bigger and bigger. This year was no exception, with single pitch routes 100m long, I don't think they get any longer. I was invited again, obviously as the token Brit, there for dry humour and poor dress sense and perhaps because I've won a few trips, even up against the likes of Sharma and Andrada. Fortunately they hadn't spotted it was clearly either a fluke or involved some serious cunning. On performance alone I think I'd be lucky to scrape in!
Petzl Roctrip: Chris Sharma flashes Infinity Lane!
Chris Sharma flashed the Men's Infinity Lane Saturday 27th, June, during the Petzl Roctrip in Millau (Aveyron - France).
This 100m route approaching the 8c has resist to the others
competitors (Dani Andrada, Daniel Dulac, Tony Lamiche, Steve McClure,
Sean McColl, Mickaël Fuselier...) but Chris spent all his energy in one
attempt and flashed the route in a raw!
On the Women's Infinity Lane, Martina Cufar and Florence Pinet flashed the route as well. Chloé Minoret, Nina Caprez and Lynn Hill sent the route on 2nd or 3rd attempt.

Summit success for Ueli Steck at Gasherbrum II
Friday, July 3 2009 - Gasherbrum base camp:
It is running quite good here. From Tuesday until Wednesday I was

weather was pretty bad. Nicole, my wife, descended from camp 1 back to
Base Camp with two Pakistani.
