Belay devices and descenders

Fernand Petzl started building innovative descenders like the SIMPLE in the late 1960s. From those beginnings, Petzl has been continuously developing innovative caving and climbing descenders and belay devices.

Introduced in 1991, the GRIGRI, is the perfect example of the way Petzl has changed the way people climb, or at least the way they belay. It has allowed climbers to push the limits of sport climbing. Ergonomic, durable and easy to use, the GRIGRI is now standard equipment for most sport climbers in the world.

Besides the GRIGRI, Petzl offers a large selection of devices for a variety of vertical uses: from the PIRANA for canyoning to the SCORPIO VERTIGO for via ferrata routes. The ever popular REVERSO 4 is now available in a lighter and more compact version, the VERSO.
