Petzl RocTrip Argentina: D. Benegas on his 1993 FA of Piedra Parada

 Damian Benegas, the famous Argentinian alpinist, has climbed some of the biggest mountains all over the world: in the Himalayas, South America, and Africa. Along with this twin brother, Willie, they have done numerous technical first ascents. Perhaps less well known is the fact that he was the first to summit the iconic 200-meter high Piedra Parada nearly twenty years ago via the route 'Sueno Lento", with his partner Pablo de la Fuente.

 The Petzl RocTrip Argentina has started from the 22nd of November 2012 and runs until the 25th. Part of the adventure of a Petzl RocTrip is getting there and this year's event is certainly the proof. After  several days of travel, climbers from all over the world have been converging on the site of Piedra Parada in the middle of the Patagonian desert.

 By the end of November, Lionel Daudet will have probably finished his "Tour de France" by the boundaries of the country. Starting from the summit of Mont-Blanc the 10th of August 2011, "Dod" took over a year to strictly follow France's border. Month after month following the line only powered by his legs and arms, without ever being farther than a few meters, Lionel Daudet is now "the specialist" of the border. Guillaume Vallot and his brother Etienne, spent a few days tied on Lionel's rope while he was crossing the Queyras massif.

 To celebrate the ten years of Petzl RocTrips, Petzl invited climbers from many countries to have a chance to participate to this year's edition.
Photo contests to win a ticket to the Petzl RocTrip Argentina happened in nine countries with local media partners.  After several years of absence, Chris Sharma and Daila Ojeda have returned to Ceuse on a quest for new projects. This cliff has a special significance for Chris, as it was here, more than ten years ago that he did the first ascent of the inspiring line, Biographie (5.15a). This time, at the Face de Rat, away from the summer crowds, Chris found a new line to bolt.
