Combining bouldering and trad climbing
The following fall, the Petzl RocTrip crosses the Atlantic to the historical Shawangunks site, near New York city. Here again the goal is to raise funds for expenses linked to protecting climber access. The Shawangunks offer a terrain that is quite different from that of the previous events. It is both a bouldering and a trad climbing site.

Bringing the idea to the USA
Having proved a success in August in France, the concept is exported to the US with a few adaptations. The chaotic Buttermilks granite boulders (near Bishop, California) are already famous but the area needs funds to create parking and thus maintain access for climbers.

An innovative event concept
Having organized several bouldering competitions at Millau (Aveyron), Mickaël Pradayrol proposes that Petzl join with the Club Alpin Français to create a new type of event. The concept would be to gather youth, amateurs and pros at the base of a crag to share a climbing experience. There would of course be challenges created for everyone, but without any competitor number or isolation room. All participants would be invited to climb together in a friendly environment to share their passion for climbing.
