Grimpday: technique and show

This year, the Grimpday, organized by the fire department of Namur (Belgium) took place on June 12th.

A recognized international event, this 5th edition gathered together the best teams worldwide in the field of rope rescue in Namur. New participants took up the challenge, with a total of 28 teams representing 9 countries, and various rescue services: firemen, civil protection, para-commandos, police, etc.

This is the story of a child suffering from the Rubinstein-Taby syndrome. Born in Martinique in 1977 of unknown parents, Philippe has always suffered from several malformations that have restrained his freedom of movement. But his perseverance and autonomy nevertheless enabled him to follow a "normal" and successful schooling. But having access to "normality" is not everything, and encouraged by his passion for challenges, Philippe discovered climbing in 1994.

10MILA , the story of a victory

Last May in Sweden, the first important gathering of the season for orientation runners grouped together 9,000 participants and 20,000 spectators. The men ran over 110 km by night, in teams of 10 relay runners.

European arborist championship 2010

This year the arborist championship took place on June 12 and 13 in Prague, Czech Republic. The event was organized by the European Arborist Committee, in collaboration with the Czech subsidiary of ISA (International Society of Arboriculture).

 

Natural Games: Full House for the Petzl Team

Great blue sky and intense heat were on the plate for this year's edition of the Vibram Natural Games. The return to normal summer conditions surprised most of us after such a cold and rainy spring in southern France !!! Sport Climbing, Bouldering, Slackline, Freestyle Kayak, Paragliding, downhill and dirt mountain bike contests  were all blessed by the blue sky and athletes heated up the show for the great pleasure of the huge crowd of spectators.

Pangaea : selection of young people for the expedition to Pakistan

The YEP (Young Explorers Program) participants have just been chosen for the “Pakistan Pangaea” expedition, the 5th of a series of 12 expeditions over 5 continents, from 2008 to 2012.

With his PANGAEA program, Mike Horn’s objective is to encourage the respect of the environment and to actively help clean the planet in order to protect it : a challenge for the future generations!

Winners of the Piolets d'Or

The greatest climbers met together last month for the 18th edition of the Piolets d’Or in Chamonix. This key event in terms of alpinism focused on the encounter between the new and the older generation. The chosen projects complied with the ethics of the Piolets d'Or described in the Piolets d’Or charter.

The Melloblocco is back !

The largest international gathering of boulder fans will take place from May 6th to 9th in the Italian valleys of Val Masino and Val di Mello.

You will find all the features that usually make the Melloblocco competition so exceptional, but also some novelties to be discovered this year. Petzl will notably organize a SAGAGNASS evening on Saturday night with Lafouche and Said.
